IreGaz:  Getting Results (1)

How do I search for Townlands ?

IreGaz is very flexible, so you will find that you gradually develop your own style of search.

To gain confidence and understanding, experiment with the Townland dropdowns:

 1. Type "drum" in the topline textbox (to the left of the Townland checkbox)

 2. With the topline dropdown showing "START of name", click Start Search. Result: >2030 rows.

 3. Change the topline dropdown to "END of name", click Start Search. Result: >100 rows.

 4. Change the topline dropdown to "EXACT name", click Start Search. Result: <20 rows.

 5. Change the topline dropdown to "ANYWHERE in name", click Start Search. Result: >2290 rows.

 6. Change the topline dropdown to "WHOLEword in name", click Start Search. Result: >25 rows.

Now do the same again, but this time type "island" in the topline textbox.

Experiment also with the checkboxes marked Townland, Town and Island. You will find that when you uncheck all three of them at the same time, IreGaz provides results based on which other checkboxes remain checked.
